Manifestation of Delusions

Psychology V Delusion

By: GhostDante1, Co-Founder of the Halifax Paranormal Investigations, Editor of the Halifax Paranormal Blog

In my Abnormal Psychology classes in university, we covered a section that could also be interpreted in the paranormal world as well, this being the unsettling topic of manifestation and delusions -- both which can be confused with possession and/or paranormal activity in a person(s) or personal dwelling (house, warehouse, abandoned building, ruined castle, prison, asylum) etc where death has occurred.

Hauntings by spirits, elemental, shadow figures, poltergeists and/or demons or otherwise are not just bound to places of violence or disturbance; sometimes reports of a haunting has to be carefully dissected with an aura of skepticism in order to cover all the possibilities before proceeding with an investigation.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Prior alcohol or substance abuse which could cause negative entities to be drawn to you, or perhaps cause psychological stress on the mind, resulting in the delusion of a haunting
  • Violence or abuse in the family, and this includes child abuse or neglect as well, once again resulting in the possibility of psychological distress
  • Religious backgrounds and misinterpretation of paranormal activity due to one's beliefs
  • Any recent events in a clients personal life that could lead to he or she becoming open to paranormal activity happening in their home, such as a trauma in the family or the practice of the occult without an understanding of the consequences of such actions. This is more often than not, the result of he or she playing with a Ouija or "spirit board" and inadvertently opening a doorway to the afterlife (heaven, limbo or hell) and not understanding what could come through.
A person or investigator with no knowledge of the paranormal could be followed home by an entity from a separate location (asylum, cemetery) etc resulting in a haunting. Suffice it to say, be it psychological or an acknowledged haunting which a religious rite such as house blessing or exorcism must be performed can happen by any means.

Alternatively to that, there is also the underlying psychological part of that equation -- this going back to my opening comment on manifestation and delusion. Poltergeists are among these. Negative emotions, in particular to strong emotions; like fear for example -- or worry or stress or insomnia if left untreated by a medical doctor or psychiatrist can manifest into external energy with physical effects. Multiple Personality Disorder, or now referred to as Dis-associative Identity Disorder (DID)  or Schizophrenia are good examples of negative emotion left unchecked resulting in the manifestation of delusions, and in extreme cases the subject is then incarcerated in a mental health facility due to the physical trauma he or she would inflict on their bodies (cuts to the arm, self flagellation, attempted suicide, substance abuse, or other self inflicted wounds) in an attempt to "heal" the subject from the mental disturbance afflicting them.

This can also be misinterpreted by religious scholars or otherwise for signs of possession, when it isn't.  Nightmares have, in some cases; been shown to trigger physical manifestations, due to delusions. However, such phenomena do not appear to happen to just anyone. Although it is not clear why, adolescents, especially young children are prone to such occurrences; which leads to the universal thought that children are more in tuned and more open to paranormal phenomena than adults are; given their young ages and closer to death than we are (ex: the sixth sense) or ability to commune, both audible and visual manifestation of the dead.

With all this said, the debate in both the scientific world of psychology, and the alternative world of para-psychology will always be just that, a subject left open to debate.

Stop SOPA, End Piracy!

Blackouts? Not for US!

By: GhostDante1, Co-Founder of the Halifax Paranormal Investigations, Editor of the Halifax Paranormal Blog

As many of you are aware, as of today Wikipedia, accompanied by Google, Mozilla, Wordpress, and Reddit and so on, have all decided collectively to force themselves into a 24 hour online blackout to protest against the American Government's decision to change the infrastructure of web-based browsing, and free research information via bills that Congress are trying to pass.

With this said, expect the net and other social media outlets such as Twitter and/or Facebook primarily to be blowing up with users expressing their points of views on the #stopSOPA and #EndPiracy trends taking the media world by storm.

Due to today's blackout movements, we here at Halifax Paranormal Investigations will be closely monitoring the progress of the protests, and social media/web blackouts; but want to assure all of you that there will be NO blackout for this blog, or ghostbusting group!

If these bills are approved by Congress; it'll not only end the hundred+ years we have enjoyed the chartered freedoms of speech ensured to us as a "free" North American continent (Canada included); but end freedom of web-based speech as well and affect how universities and public schools nationwide conduct research -- this loss cannot be afforded. weblink to the developing story on the blackouts!

Rest assured that Halifax Paranormal will always be here to search, seek and hunt for the truth of the unexplained, be it through a blackout crisis or not. We will blog and tweet more as the day progresses, so stay tuned!

Fire Destroys 100 Year old Church: Natural Accident or Act of God?

By: GhostDante1, Co-Founder of Halifax Paranormal Investigations, Editor of the Halifax Paranormal Blog

Good Evening, Blog Lovers,

It seems that the curse of Friday the 13th, a day which according to a long-standing tradition that is as old as mankind itself, is associated with phobia, fear, accidents and misfortune; has struck the small town of Waterside, New Brunswick; (Riverside-Albert) as lightning strikes a 110 year old Baptist Church; (circa 1900 approximate establish) on route 915 around 23h30 when firefighters responded to the site., causing it to burn to the ground -- also due to the intensity of the strike it caused debris to be hurled into the air, as well as a subsequent hole in the wrought-iron fence surrounding a nearby Catholic cemetery, the church in question is located only 53 kilometers from Moncton, NB.

Was it a natural accident in a random location, or perhaps act of God?

According to the CBC News,

"One of our members lives probably three or four kilometers away from the actual church, he felt the tremor from the impact at his place," fire chief Peter Murphy said."

Only the church bell was salvageable from the burned wreckage. It is a sad loss for the community of Waterside, NB; but considering the coincidental timing of the lightning strike; can one argue a divine intervention of "act of God", or perhaps a sign from above to end the reign of an abandoned House of God?

One could say that the perspective of the supernatural could be likely to cause a church to burnt into a ball of flames in lieu of the 2012 End of Days/Mayan conspiracy theorists; where our faith in God will be tested; but perhaps God wanted to send the message to His children that the Church of Man, is doomed to burn by divine intervention, leading us to turn to Heaven in prayer and belief in order to be saved when the rapture happens.

Considering that a hole was blasted into the fence of a cemetery, can lead to a school of thought that the souls that were resting are now free to wander in the mortal world. Due to the damage on Friday, the community is now considering establishing a monument and/or expanding the cemetery grounds.

In the opinion of us at Halifax Paranormal Investigations, we believe that bad things happen to random people and places on Friday the 13th, and perhaps the belief in a "curse", which began as far back as the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and the burning of the Knights Templar in the 1500's; that the numerology of 13, a number traditionally associated with misfortune; according to suggests,

"The number 13 brings the test, the suffering and the death. It symbolizes the death to the matter or to oneself and the birth to the spirit: the passage on a higher level of existence."

We, as human beings either religiously faithful, atheist or skeptical will be tested and our belief in what is possible in the realm of the supernatural, and in the power of God either benign or maniacal will suffer, until our faith in a higher plane of existence. Because of the church burning, it has strengthened the community and and increased their faith, despite the dark divine intervention from above.

Exorcism v Mental Illness v Possession?

Our POV on The Devil Inside and its Claims on Exorcism and Demonic Possession

By: GhostDante1, Co-Founder of the Halifax Paranormal Investigations, Editor of the Halifax Paranormal Blog

OK, so JG and I saw "The Devil Inside" movie last night, and apart from the amateur looking "shaky cam" documentary feel to the movie, our first impressions were that it was the most in-depth, and deeply disturbing film about Exorcism, possibly ever made. Although the movie claims that the Holy Church in Rome (Vatican) has ceased the practice of Exorcism, a practice that is believed by many religions worldwide, primarily in the Christian Faith; and banned the ritual in 1999 "first time in 400 years" the film claims -- the film does focus on the thin blue line between mental illness and possession. Rome does have a "school for exorcism" which focuses on theory, as opposed to the ancient rite of battle with the demonic.

In today's world, mental illness is the number one explanation for many of religion's skeletons in the closet, in particular exorcism and possession by demonic forces. It's true that victims who have been "afflicted" supposedly with possession and have undergone the exorcism ritual have died due to cases of malnutrition and starvation; or from the stress of psychological trauma imposed on the body. (see Exorcism of Annalise Michel, the German girl who inspired the film Exorcism of Emily Rose for a better understanding). The Vatican and the Holy See collectively like to cover-up and condone the existence of exorcism, and consider it illegal to practice without consent and protection of the church's jurisdiction. It's easy to mistake demonic possession for mental illness, such as epilepsy for example as the skeptics would say.

A well known, and famous case where demonic possession was a possibility as the motive was the Amittyville Horror House crime scene case in 1974 where Ronald DeFeo, Jr. brutally murdered his entire family while they slept; claiming he heard the voices of the demonic telling him to do it, asking the question of possession or simply a deep burning hatred for the family que? Thirteen months later, in December 1975; George and wife Kathy Lutz and family moved into the same house, and according to witness statements were plagued by a dark, demonic force in the house. To this day, there has been no definitive conclusion as to what truly happened in that house. Could exorcism or a house-blessing have culled the demonic forces?

Who's to say?

For an exorcism to be performed on an individual who may be possessed, the Holy See has to verify that upon request from the Archbishop of that particular parish who is making the claims. Sometimes exorcisms can take from days, to years. The Holy Church condemns the video-taping and audio-recording of the ancient rite. As it was said in the film "The Devil Inside", there are different forms of demons who all answer to the one, the "CEO" of Hell, Lucifier/Satan who's name when translated means "angel" or "bringer of light". Lucifier was an arch-angel who wanted to become God, and when he rebelled against Heaven, he was kicked out and demonized, then locked in the prison of fire along with several other fallen angels who rebelled with him after the war in Heaven by archangel Michael for a thousand years.

Suffice it to say, this army of fallen angels reverted to becoming demons, and can sometimes infest a single individual at one time on a massive-scale, forming a Legion or "multiple demonic possession(s)" For "The Devil Inside", we at Halifax Paranormal can clearly see why the Vatican did not endorse the movie's production; simply put, they'd probably wish that this film, and the true to life claims of real events that it is based on were left quieted. A Legion can also jump from one individual to another, as well many victims who are truly possessed can manifest an innocent guise to try and fool the priesthood into thinking that the dark force haunting them has left.

Some of the claims of "signs of possession" that "The Devil Inside" made were enlarged pupils (over 9mm, the standard of human eye-sight), enhanced almost superhuman strength and knowledge, the ability to speak in multiple voice pitch and languages, the blaspheming and violent outbursts to religious objects such as crosses, the bible, holy water and a priest and so on. With this said, exorcism can also be easily mistook for DID or Dis-Associative Identity Disorder or in layman's terms "multiple personality disorder", sometimes causing the afflicted person to be incarcerated in a mental health institution instead of being treated for possession.

With all this said, this is just our own opinion on the topic of exorcism, mental illness and the "Devil Inside" film. Please feel free to form your own opinions and feedback. Leave a comment, read the blog or tweet us and tell us what you think about the dark subject of exorcism and demonic possession.

Still Going Strong in the Face of Obscurity!

By: GhostDante1, Co-Founder of the Halifax Paranormal Investigations, Editor of the Halifax Paranormal Blog

Our Mission Statement

After careful discussion and debate, we have chosen to NOT delete the Facebook public forums, blog forums and twitter feed for Halifax Paranormal.

We are our own organization that is slowly learning to stand on our own two feet, and as far as we see it; it's learn by experience; and not what other people say. Criticism is just that, a critique of something someone does. I'm pretty sure that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms clearly states the Freedom of Speech Act for all Canadian citizens.

Henceforth, we have added a disclaimer on the blog stating that our experiences and accounts of the paranormal are all our own, and do not reflect that our the client(s) who may or may not be involved in a subsequent investigation.

Every Paranormal group learns by itself on it's own, and so what if our opinions are thought to be one sided, and not open to debate and possibilities; the realm of the paranormal, supernatural and unexplained is still in infancy and always open to debate regardless.

We will continue to feed the public's fascination of the paranormal with our updates, and case claims, evidence and so on; and as far as we see it -- we may be a small unit, but we will learn big.
The dead, be them 5th dimension beings, ghosts, demons, shadow figures, angels and or whatever have a story to tell the living world...and we are ready to listen.

Future Investigation?

New Ground for the Paranormal?

While my girlfriend and I were driving home earlier tonight, I pointed out in puzzlement the row of abandoned, darkened apartments in Dartmouth's North End, just adjacent to the Mackay Bridge; bordered by Tufts Cove, the BIO; and the Canadian Coast Guard, this being the shadowy Shannon Park - which used to be old CFB military housing, built roughly in the 1950's to accommodate Navy personnel during WW2, which was abandoned in 2004, now left to decay, forgotten by the expanding municipality.

Hence forth, Halifax Paranormal will be in the pre-planning stages of a possible overnight investigation there in the near future.

Exorcism in History v Film

Good Afternoon, our Loyal Readers...

Although this Friday's theatrical release of The Devil Inside is a work of fiction supposedly based on true events, one thing is true...and that is the Roman Catholic Church doesn't authorize the recording of or video taping of exorcism; or any kind of religious rite of spiritual deliverance against demonic forces.

Although the true facts about the film are not known, and possibly withheld intentionally by the Holy See and the Vatican Church, what is clear is that Exorcism itself has been around for as long as man has established the Catholic Church on Earth.

The Vatican in the past 20 years has increased the number of trained Exorcists, from once a sparse number of a dozen, to now over 300+; yet disavows the existance of the Devil on earth. Traditionally, the religious rite uses to combat demonic forces is called the "Rituale Romanum", and as seen in prior cases, a victim can be infested with four or more demons forming a Legion.

A priest who practices exorcism outside of the Church's consent is considered a rogue. Another tidbit for you, the practice of Exorcism began with Christ Himself, and the ritual can go on for years as the church battles for the victim's soul. In recent years, the reports of alleged demonic paranormal activity has increased.

Dead Birds...A Sign of the End?

Good Morning, and Happy New Year, Paranormal Community!

As many of you have probably heard by now in the latest headlines from the American media, an estimated total of 5000 dead black birds, have fallen from the sky in Beebe, Arkansas, to kick off the start of the 2012 new year. Just like the year prior, hundreds of perfectly healthy black birds befell the community of Little Rock, Arkansas -- perhaps due to too many fireworks being set off in celebration of the New Years Eve festivities, causing heart-attacks?

The following video is provided by the "American Morning" segment on, dated 1/1/2012:

Without a concrete explanation, authorities in Beebe, Ark formally banned residents from firing off fireworks due to the corpses falling from the heavens, but yet one has to think...the conspiracy theorists have already jumped on the bandwagon with this unexplained event and given credence to the rumored 2012 Mayan Calender "end of days" perception of the world coming to an "end"?  If this is true, then there must be a larger paranormal reasoning for Starling, and Black Bird deaths? On Monday, the "mass mortality" event related to Arkansas, was Louisiana was 500 birds falling from the sky.

The following video is taken from

Such as the case the year earlier, as the first day approached in its wee hours, birds would suddenly awaken from their roosting alcoves, only to die and fall on humanity...dead. Police stated that the first incident reports of the dead birds started around 19h00 (7pm GMT); forcing the city-wide ban on fireworks, as authorities worked with animal control to collect the corpses and determine cause of death.

Others believe poisoning of the birds, or perhaps....something far more sinister this way comes?

Source for below video:

This event, CTV News reports coupled with the hundreds of dead drum fish that had washed up in the Arkansas River, causes some speculation of an apocalypse-like event brought on by God, or perhaps ancient predictions of an End of Days that is beyond our control. As the media pointed out, it was probably the confusing crack and boom of fireworks that sent the foul into a frenzy of cardiac-arrest, and crashing into police vehicles, houses and so on.

Another theory of probability for the conspiracy theorists is the testing of military weaponary, in particular of the HAARP facility, outside of Fairbanks, Alaska, which experiments with weather-manipulation, and atmospheric/harmonic manipulation technology for American BLACK projects. Whose to say, really? All one can say is, if the birds themselves continue to fall in record numbers yearly with the annual eve of the New Year approaching it will ultimately deplete the migratory nature of birds to the southern states during the winter months; throwing the whole Natural Order into chaos.

With climate-change and global warming quickly becoming a hot-topic these days, one has to wonder about this puzzling question; is it a paranormal event based on prophecy that  caused these birds over the last two years now to suddenly rain down on man, or is it simply another sign of the Earth changing due to climate-change?

Disturbing EVP in Asylum

Hey, guys! This is by far the scariest EVP that I have heard captured by a paranormal investigation team (Ghost Investigators Society/GIS) of by founding members Brendan Cook and Barbara MacBeth, while on case in an abandoned mental health facility.

Number 1, it's almost two minutes long, and for 2; it's disturbing because of the sounds of a disembodied child voice being drowned -- in a room with no water in it.

Have a listen, (best with headphones) and wall message or tweet me what you think is happening. It first aired on the Art Bell radio show, Coast to Coast AM in 1997. The asylum had seen 7 deaths total, and 4 suicides  during it's time from 1967-1989 run as a mental health facility. They had seen water damage, and were invited  to the abandoned unnamed asylum (former bank) by the superintendent; who wanted proof for her and employees of the alleged haunting.

Below is part-six of 12 of the GIS investigation of the said asylum, followed by the disturbing EVP of the child.;

The link to the EVP video is below as follows:

The child EVP voice clearly says at the beginning, "help me, I couldn't breathe. I can't breathe" followed by an unidentified male's voice saying "murder", then the slashing of water followed by a thud, then silence. GIS investigated further into the background of this disturbing EVP -- and found no records of any child incarceration in the asylum, nor any active body of water, as there was no running water in the building. GIS also doesn't allow children to join on their ghost hunts.

Suffice it to say, GIS and Art Bell were unable to determine the root cause of the EVP.

And I Walk Through the Valley of the Dead...

Yesterday, my girlfriend and fellow paranormal investigator/research specialist JG were driving around Halifax, before I had to go in to work, and decided to stop by Camp Hill Cemetery, (circa 1844) on Robie Street, a burying ground to packed with ancient bodies and ripe with severe paranormal activity that the municipal government locks down the cemetery at 8pm every night as per by law. It replaced the city's original cemetery, Old Burying Grounds, on the corners of Spring Garden Road and Barrington Streets, which was established circa 1749.

The main entrance to Camp Hill Cemetery is located on Summer Street.

Below are two amateur videos of our cemetery visit. Although we didn't see any ghosts, or any sign of supernatural activity, just the odd person cutting through for a shortcut, just the atmosphere was unsettling enough.

However, for those who reside around the cemetery still to this day, on Spring Garden Road, and surrounding area; report sightings of ghostly apparitions dressed in Eighteenth Century clothing wandering the graves at night. Entrance into CHC is forbidden at night, but when Paranormal Canada featuring Ryan Buell, and the cast of A&E'S "Paranormal State" and director of the Paranormal Research Society, in partnership with Maritime Paranormal while on their Canadian tour came here in October of this year, was granted special permission to conduct a ghost hunt investigation overnight in CHC--it would be interesting to know, if anything; was found.

This cemetery is worldly famous for housing the founder and creator of Keith's beer, Mr. Alexander Keith himself, whom every year on the anniversary of his death during "Keiths Fest" aka a concert to celebrate the man himself for making a provincial trademark beer, his grave is lined with beer bottles. The cemetery also houses the body of Mr. Joseph "Joe" Howe.

In retrospect, if there was ever a hotspot for paranormal activity in Halifax, then I would highly suggest spending a night with a camera, video camera HD equipped with night vision, digital recorder and FLIR thermal/IR camera or analog tape recorder and go try some paranormal investigating of Halifax's ghostly past yourself!

I know I plan to do this at some point.

Origin of Evil?

In light of a subject that was brought to my attention last night while driving around looking at Christmas lights with JG, was the site of her old childhood home, 85 A Belle Vista Drive, in Dartmouth.

In particular, was the troubling accounts of her paranormal experiences, some that still plague her to this day. For example, the attic door would open by itself in both day and night time hours, whether or not she and/or family were present in the house, or the unseen presence of a shadow figure (possibly demonic), whatever or whomever it is that followed and focused on JG for a yet unknown reason. At 5 years of age, the strange paranormal activity started. She moved into 85 A at 3 years old, and it started two years later.

From then on, cold spots, the disembodied sounds of voices coming from her closet, and also finding dead crows suddenly appear in the attic out of nowhere. The entity had never physically made itself known to her in the original house; and another creepy story from the house was during a thunderstorm the power had gone out in her basement with her brother, and out nowhere the metal support poles started banging loudly, and hard enough to make the floor shake -- no explanation of how or why this happened.

In juxtaposition to the sight of dead crows in the attic, the crow (echoing from the story of Genesis/Old Testament of Noah's Ark and the Flood) where Noah released a dove and a raven for messages, only to have the dove return to the Ark as a raven to pillage the dying Earth -- is a symbol of death; with the one crow meaning sorrow and impending doom. (Genesis 6:1-9:17).

The sight of a black crow, sometimes following or preceding a death indicates that it is a symbol of impending doom.

The following is a quote taken from Raven,

"The crow is associated with motherly love and spiritual strength. It was believed that fairies turned into crows in order to cause trouble. In heraldry, a crow was used to indicate a dark person such as a Moor or a Saracen. In Egypt, two crows, like two doves, were an emblem of monogamy."

Another more probable answer to this dark riddle of the dead crows, can be found at:

"You have a great protection around you. This crow is a sign of evil and bad things to come, BUT finding it dead is good. Your guardian angel or protector saved you. The crow represents a old witch doctor searching for souls."

The fact that the sight of dead crows being found in the attic, would be a sign of death coming to those who dwell in the residence, but perhaps it would be a sign of good fortune from a benevolent entity trying to protect JG from an evil haunting her house. Since then, even in her new house as seen in prior blog posts, this entity (if is the same) has been making forcible advances on her physically, but perhaps it is a sign of possession of JG. Not spiritual, but of object -- as discussed earlier with her, it (entity) may see JG as an object it "owns" and hence does not want intruders or anyone near her.

Furthermore, it came to my attention that JG's mother (unnamed) practiced and experienced paranormal activity and witchcraft in her teenage years. Now, before you start thinking Paranormal Activity 3 here, this is not some fantasy life imitating a movie script, this IS real!

Oddly enough, the activity ceased for years, almost in a dormant state until my arrival in JG's life, then the activity started again. Does this demon entity sense me as a threat, or could the haunting be simply passed down through a family bloodline from mother to daughter. In other reports of recent activity, research specialist and investigator JG reported strange rustling sounds coming from her bedroom closet as of last night, and it was NOT an animal of any kind....

I'd love to keep blogging, but real life awaits; so I'm gonna call it a day here. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more updates on this bizarre and ongoing investigation into the paranormal!

Ciao, all!

No Soul is Safe in Rome

Original Posting: Thursday, 3 November, 2011
"No Soul is Safe"

That is the ominous tagline for the upcoming horror flick, The Devil Inside, starring Suzan Crowley who plays a multi-possessed woman in Italy, undergoing research and what is known in the Roman Catholic circles as Exorcism; which is also defined by such methods as house blessing, cleansing of the soul and flesh, deliverance ritual and so on.

20 years earlier, the victim of the Legion of demons possessing her, calls 911 dispatch to report that she had killed three people in cold blood, more than likely due to the possession haunting her, and it's up to her now grown up daughter and the help of two young priests to do battle against the forces of Hell, against a legion of four powerful demons bent on destruction of souls, that can jump from body to body -- in the heart of the Catholic Church, Rome Italy; in the hopes of saving her mother's tortured soul.

Here is the trailer for the film:

Followed by a poster, portraying the actress with an inverted cross carved into her lower lip. (ouch!)

Religious View on Exorcism:

Possession (definition) of Merriam Webster Online Dictionary-: "the act of having or taking into control"

But movies and Hollywood's popcorn portrayal of Exorcism, the ordeal itself can be just as terrifying, emotional, psychological and spiritual as one may believe it to be. Exorcism, and the rites of deliverance are as old as man-made religion itself. The word "exorcism" is derived from the late Latin exorcismus, and from the Greek ἐξορκισμός, exorkismos - binding by oath. The ritual itself is, in essence according to Wikipedia,  "is the religious practice of evicting demons or other spiritual entities from a person or place which they are believed to have possessed. Depending on the spiritual beliefs of the exorcist, this may be done by causing the entity to swear an oath, performing an elaborate ritual, or simply by commanding it to depart in the name of a higher power. The practice is quite ancient and part of the belief system of many cultures and religions.

According to the Oxford Reference Online an exorcism is the driving out of a dybbuk, demons, or evil spirits; the belief that a holy man can order the expulsion of evil spirits that have invaded a place or body of a person is ancient.[1] Different types of exorcisms and rituals can be seen throughout different faiths too. Requested and performed exorcisms occurred rarely until the 1900’s where the public saw a sharp rise due to the media attention exorcisms were getting. There was “a 750% increase in the number of Exorcisms performed between the early 1960’s and the mid 1970’s”.[2]"

Below is the original exorcism of the late Annelise Michel, which inspired the film The Exorcism of Emily Rose:

Annaliese Michel (b.september 21st, 1952, d. july 1st, 1976) was an innocent Russian girl with a strong family background belief in the Catholic faith,,who was possessed and tormented by a legion, or multiplicity of demons infesting her soul, and mind--and as has happened and continues to happen in worldwide cases of Exorcism, the victim dies violently from the demons tearing her body apart.  Now that I've mentioned "legion" twice, it's time to delve deeper into what he is, and to start, in connection to the topic of Exorcism, comes from the Gospels of Mark, Luke, and Matthew, and I quote:

"And He (Jesus) asked him (the man), "What is thy name?" And he answered, saying, "My name is Legion: for we are many."
-Gospel of Mark, 5:9

"And Jesus asked him, saying, "What is thy name?" And he said, "Legion": because many devils were entered into him"
-Gospel of Luke, 8:30

"And when He was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way"
-Gospel of Matthew, 8:28-34

In other words, a Legion is a multiple amount of demons inhabiting a victim at one time; which was first experienced by Christ during an Exorcism of two men, one of which was possessed. Now, down to the grit of Exorcism itself, that is; possession and the methodology of casting out the demons. There have been cases where exorcisms have gone on for days, hours, years.

There are other cases, referred to as "perfect possession" where an individual has given themselves completely and solely over to the dark forces and demons, and no matter of ritualistic deliverance, holy water, prayers or cross will bring the soul back to God. Exorcism exists in both Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, and of course Catholicism. The priest of religious authority would start off the rituale romanum/deliverance rite by opening with protection prayer of Saint Michael; then addressing the inhabited victim and demanding for the demon's name, and reciting prayers calling on Christ to combat the devil inside to let the victim go.
Exorcism typically follows a series of rules, as stated in the rituale romanum or Exorcism ritual:

"The following are selected paragraphs pertaining to the instruction of the Exorcist as indicated in the Old Rite - Rules of the Roman Ritual of Exorcism.

(RULE 1)The priest who with the particular and explicit permission of his Bishop is about to exorcise those tormented by Evil Spirit, must have the necessary piety, prudence and personal integrity. He should perform this most heroic work humbly and courageously, not relying on his own strength, but on the power of God; and he must have no greed for material benefit. Besides, he should be of mature age and be respected as a virtuous person.

(RULE 5) Let the exorcist note for himself the tricks and deceits which evil spirits use in order to lead him astray. For they are accustomed to answering falsely. They manifest themselves only under pressure--in the hope that the exorcist will get tired and desist from pressuring them. Or they make it appear that the subject of Exorcism is not possessed at all.

(RULE 6) Sometimes, Evil Spirit betrays its presence, and then goes into hiding. It appears to have left the body of the possessed free from all molestation, so that the possessed thinks he is completely rid of it. But the exorcist should not, for all that, desist until he sees the signs of liberation.

(RULE 10) The Exorcist must remember, therefore, that Our Lord said there is a species of Evil Spirit which cannot be expelled except by prayer and fasting. Let him make sure that he and others follow the example of the Holy Fathers and make use of these two principal means of obtaining divine help and of repelling Evil Spirit.

(RULE 20) During Exorcism, the exorcist should use the words of the Bible rather than his own or somebody else's. Also, he should command Evil Spirit to state whether it is kept within the possessed because of some magical spell or sorcerer's symbol or some occult documents. For the exorcism to succeed, the possessed must surrender them. If he has swallowed something like that, he will vomit it up. If it is outside his body in some place or other, Evil Spirit must tell the exorcist where it is. When the exorcist finds it, he must burn it."

Scientific View on Exorcism:

"can you ever forensically prove that something is a ghost? No." -Chad Calek, AGH Co-Founder and Investigator.

A medically trained mind with a scientific background would never acknowledge that exorcism or demonic possession actually exists, only epilepsy hysteria, mania, psychosis, dissociative identity disorder and mental or psychological disturbance of the mind, such as schizophrenia, or hallucination or delusion; often ending the possessed individual in psychiatric hospitals under observation and medication treatments -- over the traditional religious or spiritual view.

In many cases of DID, many people would identify themselves as "demons", even though the diagnosis might actually be multiple personality disorder, instead of possession. Recently, the Vatican has begun re-training of their clergy to practice exorcism, as more and more cases of demonic possession worldwide. (300 priests have turned into exorcists).

In conclusion, even good people who don't believe in demons, can be possessed; or those who play with a spirit board can be possessed. Only a devout faith in God and all his Angels can combat the dark forces of Hell, and all its legions of evil. If the ritual is done right, the victim will live and if not; the devil inside will drag your soul to Hell.

A Useful Weapon Against Hauntings

Hey Guys!

First and foremost, my sincerest apologies to my followers, the loyal and the readers of my blog for being absent for almost a month; considering how it is now the Christmas Holiday break -- I'd like to wish you all a safe and joyful Merry Christmas, and second I'd like to discuss the pictures you see before you.

They are of a "seven day" protection candle I picked up from the "HEX Old World Witchery" shop, made by Sabrina the Ink Witch, (no, I don't mean the TV show "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" here;  during my one day visit to Salem, MA back in November, 2011. As the description of the white candle follows, and by the way, the colour of the candle being WHITE, indicates that it is made with white magic and hence used for protection against demons and malevolent spirits that mean harm, but anyway back to the candle description:

"This candle is inscribed with powerful symbols of protection magic. Bless it with your own intentions and incant the spell:"

The spell is as follows:

"The root is fashioned of a man, with symbols that the spirits heed, draw a single drop of blood, if you're one who dares to bleed. Tell this candle 7 days of that which you hold dear. Call upon the Ancient ways....Conjure silent. Know no fear"

I'd like to point out that the "draw a single drop of blood" indicates anointing the candle with your own essence and power,  but it is not to be confused with a blood ritual used to call or summon demonic forces that would otherwise do harm.

To further strengthen the fact that this candle is a powerful tool against haunting, or demonic paranormal activity; take the case of JG and her recent demonic goings-on in her home. After returning from Massachusetts; I gave JG - a fellow paranormal investigator and confidant a second candle I had bought for her. After lighting it, it seemed that the demonic shadow entity that had been plaguing her and her father during the night had ceased abruptly -- perhaps due to the candle's burning?

Who knows?

I've posted a link below to the HEX Old World Witchery shop's homepage, so feel free to check that out if you like!
Happy Holidays, and merry hauntings!

Dancing in the Dark?

Good Evening, Ghouls, Ghosts and blog readers alike!

I just thought I'd grab a minute, now that I'm home to blog quickly about some freaky paranormal activity in my girlfriend's house earlier tonight! JG and I were chilling in her room, minding our own business when suddenly out of nowhere an unexplained random power-outage blanketed HER room in darkness, for 20-30 seconds; around 17h30 before coming back on!

Naturally, with the impending blizzard about to knock Halifax on it's chilly ass, one might attribute a random power-outage to a more rational explanation...however; this is generally NOT so when JG is under possible psychic, and paranormal attacks and experiences on a nightly basis by an unseen entity, a dark "shadow being" that has no remorse on making itself known to her; despite my presence in the room. She had felt physically touched as well as pinned down to the bed, heard a rapid "clicking" sound in the corner of her room, breathing, objects turn off and on by themselves or move, and all in just her room!

For the last 15 years, this haunting has followed JG, and tormented her; and after days of no paranormal activity; it makes itself known tonight while I am there? This more than just a random event.

Furthermore, JG and I have been in contact with members of Maritime Paranormal, a local paranormal investigation team who is looking into her case as we speak. Whether this entity is demonic in nature, or possessive of JG, or simply curious and in transit due to the possibility of JG being potentially psychic with medium prowess; remains to be seen.  Our theory before tonight, was; it (entity) would wait until my presence was off the property before manifesting--and tonight, that proved wrong due to the blackout--an deliberate attempt of communication and manifestation.

Perhaps me nagging it (entity) on after the blackout to challenge and haunt me instead of JG, calling it "coward" and "weak ass" was not the smartest of ideas, but it needed to hear that it has no authority or legality in this world of the living.

For more on this continuing case, please follow me on Twitter @GhostDante1, or follow Maritime Paranormal @maritimeghosts and keep checking my blog for more updates. Unfortunately, we were unable to capture any EVP/audio or video evidence in her residence; but more evidence will be uploaded here when available!

Ghosts in the Machine?

"There's always been ghosts in the machine..."
                             -iRobot, 2003

Who here believes in the existence of EVP?

I can say for one thing, myself and JG both do, that's for sure. Recently, I have been hear what we believe to be suspected "ghost voices" or electronic voice phenomena or EVP, which are human, disembodied voices of the dead recorded in everyday devices -- in our case, through cellular white noise.

For the past few nights, the "voices" have been only whispers with the exception of a "growl" behind JG's own voice, and always happens at 03h00 (demonic witching hour). Needless to say, both JG and I are both confused and unnerved. Please note, she does not hear the voices herself during the phone call, but I do. We have yet to decipher what the possible EVP's are saying, if anything; be it demonic or spiritual.

Despite the fact that we as investigators have nothing to go on, and no followup evidence; is it possible that the entity is trying to manifest contact with myself, instead of JG? Who's to say?

Case Update!

It seems that the paranormal activity just doesn't want to end!

Yesterday, client, and fellow paranormal investigator and girlfriend JG reported that further actions made by supposedly the entity haunting her suburban Dartmouth home has started again, like a cycle.

At 03h00, JG was awoken from a deep slumber to feel a ghostly hand from an unseen presence touching her right thigh while her bare skin was exposed in bed, and making itself known through manifestation and "pinning" her down, however not like before; but more of a pressure on her. (can anyone say Paranormal Activity, anyone?)

In light of the time reference, 03h00 seems to be a recurring theme with this entity, as this is not the first time the entity haunting her has manifested or attacked her either. As most religious scholars, occultists, people of the Cloth (Catholicism/Christianity)  and paranormal investigators will tell you and believe in is that 03h00 is the inversion of the 15h00 (3pm) legendary time of crucifixion time of Jesus Christ in the New Testament; 03h00 is known as the "demonic witching hour" used by inverted occult practioners, Satanists and so on used to call on the dark forces. With that said, is this unseen presence a demonic force or something more?

Please feel free to leave your comments and thoughts on this, we'd be interested to debate possible ideas on this entity.

Recent Paranormal Activity in Dartmouth Home

Good Morning, Paranormal and Supernatural activity followers!

It has come to my attention to share some of the details of a recent report of ghostly, and probable demonic activity occurring almost nightly in the home of my girlfriend aka fellow paranormal investigator JG.

To say that the activity in her home is quiet, is a lie. She has been touched, and awoken out of a dead sleep at 03h00am by an unseen entity which pinned her down to her own bed. Also, she reports seeing a dark shadow figure in a bathroom mirror one morning, just staring at her. Lights would turn on and off, also the feeling of oppression and dread when the being is around, almost isolating her. Her own animals would start barking violently at corners of the room or growl at nothing all of a sudden. She has heard an unexplained "clicking" sound in the corner of her room, the feeling of uncomfortable and being watched, as well as knocking, banging, and ghostly footsteps.

In her past, she has been in the use of a spirit/witch or Ouija board, but does this explain the paranormal activity that has followed, and both haunted her and her father today? It's hard, at this point to determine that. Our research concluded that during the 1900's, there was a supposed mental asylum for the criminally insane in the immediate area nearby the case site (101 Main St., which is now a EHS Paramedic training building). So, with this said, could the activity be linked to the wandering souls of the disturbing departed -- or something more? Further investigation will be needed to determine more about the entity, and why it haunts today.

According to Julie, the entity seems to be connected, almost drawn to her. Yet, it was discovered that with my physical presence in the home with her especially at night, the entity seemed to be withdrawn and elusive, refusing to make any sign of contact or attempt at a paranormal attack.

Recently, I had contacted for help from Maritime Paranormal (, and are awaiting for a response to start an investigation into this activity.

Stay tuned for further information as the case unfolds.

Paranormal Activity 3 has been Unleashed!

A couple of weeks ago, the highest R rated ghost and demon free-camera grossing docu-horror; of course I'm talking about Paranormal Activity 3, which finally tells the origin story of Katie and Kristi as children, and first coming in an unrelenting horrific contact with the "demon" who will eventually possess both adult girls, and kidnap the newly born male child; Hunter. (Paranormal Activity 1 and 2).

Below is one of the trailers for the film, found on

It turns out that the whole connection to the demon that practically destroys their lives as sisters and the lives of the families, started on the mother's side of the bloodline -- hence why Kristi was possessed first, then Katie (the older and significantly stronger sister) then taking Hunter as hostage for  yet unknown purpose.

Without giving away spoilers, the film does touch on the existence of paranormal activity for countless, helpless and often terrified victims and people worldwide. Because of these, and other media outlets basing on ghosts, and demons and paranormal activity -- i.e. Paranormal State, American Ghost Hunter, and related UFO or psychic phenomena -- i.e. UFO Hunters, Psychic Kids or travelling the world looking for truth behind hauntings and monster mythos -- i.e. Destination Truth, Monsterquest, Ghost Hunters/Ghost Hunters International--all of which can be found on either A&E, or SYFY channels; that there has been a resurgence and interest in the paranormal that has never been seen before.

Is this because paranormal activity has increased due to the Catholic belief in the "end times" as dictated in the New Testament's Book of Revelation of St. John of Patmos? Time will only tell, but for now; why don't you grab a bag of popcorn and soft drink. Oh, and don't get too comfortable in your seat, you'll be jumping out of it quite soon!

Paranormal Halifax

Fairview Cemetery EVP, 10/31/2011

Here is the video version of the unidentified female voice we captured in the EVP investigation of Halifax's Fairview Cemetery on Halloween night, 2011. The voice says "I was here", and let me make note that only myself and JG were present during this recording, made on a digital recorder.
